About Hearing Support Hastings
We are a charity organisation that has been operating in Hastings for over 50 years, formerly known as Hastings Hearing Association, then Hastings Hearing before changing to Hearing Support Hastings in 2019. We provide free services to the Hastings & CHB Communities and our services are free to everyone. We currently have approximately 180 members on our association and are always happy to welcome new members.
We offer friendly service, a community education program, information and advice. If you feel you may have a hearing loss and have questions about hearing services in Hawke's Bay we can offer unbiased information and advice on your options and initial steps to get your hearing in check. We can provide quotes for WINZ on annual supply of hearing aid batteries. We also offer very competitive pricing on Hearing Aid Batteries and other hearing assistive products as well as hearing protection.
OUR MISSION: To educate our community that noise induced hearing loss is 100% preventable and provide people with the knowledge they need to protect their hearing.
Our organisation noticed that there was a lack of education in the community relating to the prevention of noise induced hearing loss. As 'noise exposure' is suggested to be the most common cause of hearing loss in New Zealand, we felt it was vital that a program be designed & provided FREE to our community to educate people and raise awareness on Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) and how to prevent this invisible disability. Over 6 years ago a Hearing Educator was employed to educate as many people in our community on NIHL. The presentations are fun, interactive and adapted to deliver information that is relevant to the participants & in a way that is easily understood. They are presented FREE to Early Childcare Education Centres, Kindergartens, Schools, Tertiary Education Centres and Community Groups. Click here for more on our Education program
We are not-for-profit and do not receive funding from the government, therefore we rely on donations, grants, membership subscriptions, fundraising & bequests to fund our organisation. You can support us by making a donation >
